GATTACA

In the not-so-distant future, reproduction is no longer a complete natural process, but instead children are engineered and born in to genetically enhanced humans. In this Dystopian world of Gattaca, people are discriminated not because of their race or gender, but simply because of their genes. In this society the genes of the humans will determine their place in life. Those with higher genetic consistency will be profiled with higher ranked jobs which leaves those with lesser genes no chance in proving themselves. This movie is a perfect example of how it is a dystopian society as it proceeds to keep the illusion of a perfect society through technological control. The effort to achieve a utopian world failed in the face of extreme technology and genetic engineering not being able to extinguish our "imperfections". Additionally, the protagonist's true identity is revealed to his doctor, but he continues to keep it a secret as he explains that he knew from the begginning. The doctor has a son of his own who shares the same dreams as Vincent and hopes for his own success. This   is a blatant example of how there are other people who endure the injustice of the system but refuse to speak up. This discrimination of genes has lead to most of the society accepting this system. Gattaca is a powerful movie that demonstrates elements of the Dystopian genre.
